Public bug reported:

After upgrading Ubuntu 7.10 to 8.04 (both Russian versions) on Sony Vaio
VGN-FZ11SR nm-applet started asking for the password to unlock the
keyring to read passphrase for WLAN with hinned SSID. Passphrase is
stored in the keyring, and if access is granted, nm-applect connects
fine.

If automatic login is disabled, then nm-applet gains access to the
keyring automatically.

** Affects: network-manager-applet (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
