After some more testing I've come to the conclusion that sudo modprobe/rmmod ehci_hcd doesn't always work. :( It worked a few times but it's not consistent.
Another thing I'd like to ask to everyone that has this problem is if you have the usbkbd module loaded. My USB Wifi has been running for 4 hours now without crashing since I disabled it. This module is blacklisted in 8.04 but I need it because my keyboard doesn't work very well connected to the PS/2 port.
