Emerald is not installed... Using Nvidia card with non-free driver in a
dual monitor setup. Just basic compiz fusion and KDE. The same issue
also occurs in the KDE4 remix (almost identical behavior). I had compiz
fusion installed and working prior to Hardy but I was using emerald as
the kde decorator "wasn't happy" at the time.

Following are all running processes under compiz (ps -ef | grep compiz)

  kwrapper ksmserver --windowmanager /usr/bin/compiz
  ksmserver [kdeinit] --windowmanager /usr/bin/compiz
  /bin/sh /usr/bin/compiz
  /usr/bin/compiz.real --ignore-desktop-hints --replace --loose-binding core ccp
  /bin/sh -c /usr/bin/compiz-decorator

  /bin/sh /usr/bin/compiz --sm-client-id 10d6d8d4e3000120933852400000070130028
