Same problem with nvidia MCP51, chip ALC883 onboard.
Sound is very low on every audio output (speaker, headphones)
Syslog and dmesg output "hda_codec: Unknown model for ALC883, trying auto-probe 
from BIOS..."
I tried to unload then reload kernel module snd-hda-intel with every chipset 
model without any result.


System: Ubuntu Hardy, kernel 2.6.24-16, ALSA 1.0.16

Attached file contains :
 - lspci -vvnn
 - lsmod
 - alsa-info
 - alsa-base 
 - cat /proc/asound/card0/codec#0
