I am not aware of spell-checking abilities in Firefox, however, if you
are referring to localization, you will indeed need to install the
FIrefox language/region package, since it is not a program controlled by
the desktop environment.

If you are rferring to spell checking abilities in Firefox, could you
plese enlighten me and tell me how you have set that up, because it
doesn't seem to be turned on be default.

Also, UK and USA English have some minor differences in spelling, that
is why there are seperate localizations / dictionaries for these
languages.
