Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: kde4

I assume some kubuntu-specific branding has been applied and the general
look of kickoff altered for kde4. At any rate, the look is not good
(that is, everyone I have shown it to has commented on how they dislike
it without prompting). Some complaints I would make: no borders on the
menu portion of the pane, no buffering space between the gray edges of
the search box and the menu portion, and most significantly, the blue
boxes surrounding the major buttons on the bottom need to go. These last
should behave more or less like tabs, and the original kickoff artwork
leans in that direction (although improvements in the quality of that
artwork could be made). As it stands the 'round blue box' highlight both
looks bad and does not indicate the tabular nature of the menu's
operation, reducing the intuitive grasp the user has on the menu system.

I am running kde 4.0.3 from hardy.
