I installed language-support-sr, restarted X, but was still not able to find a cyrillic layout.
Later I installed language-support-extra-sr, language-pack-sr, language- pack-gnome-sr (why so many?), logged out, restarted X in GDM with Ctrl- Alt-Backspace. Then I was getting an error message saying something like "The greeter application seems to be crashing. Trying another one." And it repeated on before GDM, so I could not log in or do anything.
