At that time I was using the Beta of Hardy Heron,but things have taken a
turn for the worse since.

Even after removing every trace of my keyboard & mouse, I can't even
pair the mouse anymore. It shows up in the list of the bluetooth-dongle
& in the list of the input-services (even 3 times - some kind of glitch
that happens from time to time)

And without a mouse I can't pair the keyboard either, as I need it to
push the "enter passkey" button through one of those libnotify-bubbles.

If you take a look at the screenshot I added you can see, in the first 
bluetooth-properties dialog, that there the mouse is lsited 3 times. In the 
other dialog you can see that I have "trusted" the mouse.
(When I move the mouse it also gets a "connected" icon, but the cursor doesn't 
move)

As you can see I also tried to add the keyboard.
