I suffer the same issue. If I rip the DVD files to disk and them burn them back, the k3b/mkisofs error message is the same as above. However, this only occurs if the total file size is close to 4.4 GB. Smaller DVDs (< 4 GB) do not seem to be affected. I have not tried other distro's than 8.04 and have not encountered this issues before, therefore I assumed it started from the 8.04 upgrade.
