This is identical to the problem I had since upgrading to Hardy Heron from Gutsy Gibbon. Different hardware, though.
00:0a.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82557/8/9/0/1 Ethernet Pro 100 (rev 0c) PC is networked through a Netgear DG834 v0.2 router using DHCP with the address offered by the router being fixed. I have tried setting a fixed IP for the PC but it still drops out.
