I believe that it is no upgraded corrupt index from Gutsy because i.) Tracker worked all right just after I graded up from Hardy, and ii.) this error persisted even after I completely de-installed Tracker and re-installed it. As you requested, I re-indexed via the Tracker applet. After 5 hours 'tracker-status' still reports: "Tracker daemon's status is Indexing. tracker-applet's yellow tooltip still reports: "Merging (paused by system) 0/0 indexes being merged." Then I stopped Indexing by right-clicking on the applet > 'Stop Indexing'. Now Tracker reports: "Merging (stopped by user) 0/0 indexes being merged."
