This may be related, or not, but I have a Thinkpad G41, and after
installing Ubuntu Hardy, I found a similar problem. Upon resuming from
suspend-to-RAM, a rather loud nasty sound comes from the speakers for
maybe 0.2 sec or so. This was definitely not a problem before
installing Hardy. The nasty noise is not dependable: it doesn't happen
EVERY time I resume. I haven't spotted a pattern about when it does or
doesn't happen, but I'll keep an eye out and post with more information
if possible.

In the meantime, if anyone can think of tests for me to run, please ask
and I'll be happy to do so!
