I still experience this bug on Hardy, I get the "VirtualBox kernel driver not installed" error.
Following the error message's suggestion, "Please install the virtualbox-ose-modules package for your kernel, e.g. virtualbox-ose- modules-generic.", I installed that package, but no improvement.
