Public bug reported:

Hi, yersterday I tried to upgrade my amd64 box from dapper to edgy.

This box is an athlon64 3000+, with a sata HD. When I initially
installed ubuntu (breezy) I set up LVM and eventually upgraded to
dapper. Now the upgrade from dapper to edgy failed.

I left the upgrade process runing, and when I came back the app was not
running (maybe it crashed, I don't really know.) I decided to reboot (my
error) and I saw that my grub menu only listed the 2.6.15 kernel from
dapper. When it started booting this error message showed:

ata3: translated ATA stat/err 0x51/40 to SCSI ...

The system boots, but when finds this errors it stops and mounts
/dev/sda in read only. I tried doing a fsck but it game me many errors
(and it was a bit late...)

I don't know if this is related to the upgrade tool, but I thought
better to report than doing nothing.

On a related note I tried to boot the live cd beta edgy to see what
happened, but I couldn't find the LVM tools vgchange and related. Is
this supposed to be like this or it's just happened in the beta cd?

Is there any way I could try and boot to get the upgrade logs?

Thanks
