Even if you close terminal and reopen it, any further commands get "E: Could not get lock /var/lib/dpkg/lock - open (11 Resource temporarily unavailable) E: Unable to lock the administration directory (/var/lib/dpkg/), is another process using it?" even though there is nothing else which should be using it. So presumably, the java thingy is still supposedly doing something, even though it really isn't.
