I tried some of the above steps to spin down the drive before ejecting
it, and now when I plug in the drive, it doesn't spin up at all, can't
find it in /dev, or do anything with it. The drive works fine on other
machines, so it's not the hard drive that's screwed.

Any ideas on how to get it going again?
