Public bug reported: Binary package hint: kernel-image-2.6.24-16-generic-di
Hi, this is a Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook E8410 with Intel 965PM (aka Santa Rosa) and Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T9300 @ 2.50GHz and 4 GB RAM running latest Hardy Kernel x86_64 as of today (08-05-08). This CPU fan goes max as soon as GRUB has taken over control. It stays max until the kernel is shut down. Being back in the BIOS the fan goes down. cpufreq works well. Depending on the load frequency varies from 800 to 2500. The fan is always running max. This was not the case as long as Vista was running. There seems to be a workaround: After I installed nvidia-glx-new, the fan goes down as soon as the X-Server is started !!!
