Public bug reported: Binary package hint: msttcorefonts
After a fresh clean 8.04 install, I've installed additional packages, and - by the way - removed the NetworkManager, which probably shut down eth0 instantly. This bug-report has been initiated automagically. From my 'Applying Changes' terminal I guess-read, that msttcorefonts behaved correct. I suspect, that the gnome applet with the two linked terminals caused the crash (it's now gone, and I don't miss it). My system is still stable, I just had to configure eth0 manually before clicking on 'report this bug'. I report it, because I expect - Deinstallation of NetworkManager should leave active network connections intact. - If this is not feasible, there should be only the 'not all succeded' note from synaptic. I rebort this bug to msttcorefonts, because this was suggested by apport, and I assume, that you first want to check, that the installer can handle an unexpected network problem gracefully. Here is the synaptic terminal output (unrelated packages have been snipped for brevity): debconf: unable to initialize frontend: Dialog debconf: (Dialog frontend will not work on a dumb terminal, an emacs shell buffer, or without a controlling terminal.) debconf: falling back to frontend: Readline Extracting templates from packages: 100% Preconfiguring packages ... Configuring msttcorefonts ------------------------- msttcorefonts uses defoma Msttcorefonts uses the DEbian FOnt MAnager (defoma). If you wish to use the fonts provided by this package under the X Window System, you must configure it to use defoma fonts. The easiest way to do so is to use the x-ttcidfont-conf package. For more information, install the x-ttcidfont-conf package and consult its documentation under /usr/share/doc/x-ttcidfont-conf. For uses of msttcorefonts not related to the X Window System (e.g. printing) this is not required. (Reading database ... 102501 files and directories currently installed.)
