Public bug reported: Kubuntu 8.04, ATi X800XT, free ati driver from Xorg, no beryl, no compiz.
X froze 3 times so far when I entered text in a gtk application after a few words. I can still move the mouse pointer but the Desktop doesn't update anymore. X apps like Kaffeine stop working. I can still ssh into the machine, even ssh -X and launch X apps on a remote box, the machine acts all normal apart from X. When I issue shutdown, the frozen Desktop stays until the machine powers down. Happened on OOo Writer editing an odt and twice entering text into a form in Firefox (precisely the eBay sales form for item description). Since these are both gtk apps and editing the same odt in koffice worked just fine over a period I suspect it's perhaps the spell check or the gtk-qt-engine. Wild guess. Let me know what logs or traces you need. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- gtk apps freeze X https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228625 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
