Ben - Not sure what you mean by local to my system. I didn't get this from an upgrade. This is from a clean install...on knot 2 and knot 3.
If it is linux-restricted-modules...why does it work in dapper automatically and not edgy? This is important because it is rather difficult to apt-get when I have no functional network devices. sudo ifconfig -a only shows the local loopback device. That is all.
