OK, lets give it a try, taking small steps. Maybe that works better. When I first visit http://atilf.atilf.fr/tlf.htm in firefox 3 I get a page the is properly displayed. ffox automatically detected windows 1252. Is that the wrong encoding? the accents look fine.
Now i go some site and and set UTF-8 explicitly (Menu -> View -> Character Encoding -> UTF-8); then visit the site above and all works fine. Now I visit that site, clear the location bar, hit enter ... nothing happens -> the browser is still on that page - its not blank or anything, so its obvious that the user is _still_ on that page. Now i set it to UTF-8 and the page breaks. Reloading that page will remember your decision to mark it as UTF-8 before. I don't see whats wrong about this. Reopening the ffox 3 part. affects ubuntu/firefox-3.0 status incomplete If there is an issue at all it will definitly not be fixed in ffox 2 release series ... affects ubuntu/firefox status wontfix - Alexander -- Firefox can display a page with the wrong encoding https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/228988 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
