Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help to improve Ubuntu.
>From the description of your problem, when you reordered the sequence of entries in menu.lst you almost certainly placed your Windows XP boot entry within the block bounded by the lines "### BEGIN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST" and "### END DEBIAN AUTOMAGIC KERNELS LIST". It is important that you place your non-Ubuntu boot entries outside this auto-managed section of menu.lst (i.e., before the start of the section, for an option that you want to be the default boot option). For Ubuntu 8.04 LTS, the update-grub script has been fixed so that, if you do add boot options to the "automagic" list, they will not be overwritten without confirmation. This is bug #21412. ** Changed in: grub (Ubuntu) Status: New => Fix Released -- menu.lst damaged after upgrade https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/227091 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
