Hi I tried 2.3.1 by rebuilding debian's xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.3.1-1. I can't confirm that the new version is fixing this bug; I'm still getting the same black screen in 80% of all cases on a dell optiplex 745 with precisely the graphics card listed in the initial posting. Furthermore, the upstream ticket attached to this bugreport does't look active to me.
