Public bug reported: Upgrading from Gutsy to Hardy caused the sinewave pattern and effected performance. (The occurred in Gutsy as well.) I downloaded the new e1000e (0.2.95?) driver, compiled and installed. My network is working as expected.
In Gutsy i downloaded the e1000 driver and installed it and fixed the problem. During this make install i got a 'catman' error and placed the files in the directory myself. uname -a Linux x64-ubuntu 2.6.24-17-rt #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Thu May 1 15:21:57 UTC 2008 x86_64 GNU/Linux
