Update: I can get either GDM working by restarting in "safe mode" and running xfix OR get my Wacom tablet running, but not both. I had no trouble at all with GDM and my Wacom tablet under Gutsy. But my biggest problem is that nothing will give any clue to what happens: Xorg.log does not show anything fatal, nor do any gdm logs or dmesg. There is probably some secret error message somewhere, but can anyone point me to the location of it?
