For me the work around of @bullium don't function as the others work arounds described here. I think that Glipper still has a problem. It's not normal that for some users it's ok with a work around, fore some others with another work around, and for some others Glipper don't function at all.
My solution is to use Parcellite (http://www.gnomefiles.org/app.php/Parcellite) downloaded from GetDeb.
