I can confirm this on HP laptop dv9335nr with Intel 3945abg. Worked fine in 7.10 and 8.04 beta until about a week ago. I stayed current with updates but just accepted them blindly, sorry not sure what updates caused issue. I then installed 8.04 final and it never worked. In 8.04 beta, network manager applet failed to display prompt for wpa password. In 8.04 final nm applet disappears from notification area but continues to appear in current session. Wired network is functional but Ubuntu doesn't seem to notice when cable gets disconnected.
