For us, this bug is on a Dapper Evo client accessing a Breezy server.

Shaun, this may be the same problem as yours. The workaround we are
using is to change /etc/c-client.cf; ours currently says:

  I accept the risk
  set allow-user-config 1
  set mail-subdirectory mail

I'm pretty sure the allow-user-config line isn't required; I don't know
about the "I accept the risk", but..
