Public bug reported: I am trying to install Ubuntu 6.10 Desktop for i386, built on 20061017, on a Dell Optiplex GX6200. This machine worked with 6.10 Knot 2 and passed all tests. Also, the CD was checked for defects and none were found.
When installing with the default options and choosing to overwrite the disk (no resizing), the system crashes about half way through the process. At that point, the system no longer responds to the mouse nor the keyboard. So, I reinstalled and switched to tty1 at the beginning of the installation in order to catch messages sent to the console.
