Workaround found, but I would still call this a bug since Windows XP has been working just fine on this computer.
Has the same problem with Ubuntu 7.10 through 8.04. Also had the same problem with Fedora 9. Ubuntu 6.06 and 6.10 worked. Tried lots of boot options, like noacpi, noapci, nolapic, noirqpoll in lots of different combinations. Nothing worked. Disconnected my SATA drive and then could boot 8.04 from the CD. Then went back into Windows, updated my BIOS from the Shuttle website.
