Public bug reported:
lsb_release -rd
Description: Ubuntu 8.04
Release: 8.04
I did a clean install of i86 Hardy Heron and have applied all patches.
A previous kernel issue with USB mouse that stopped working in 7.10
appeared to have been resolved.
I plugged a USB hard drive into one of the USB 2.0 ports and the USB
mouse (a Microsoft 2 button with wheel) stopped functioning. Despite
numerous reboots/cold boots and trying different usb ports for the mouse
- the USB mouse has stopped working. A PS/2 2 button mouse works fine.
The infamous connect-debounce failed message appears in an infinite loop in
syslog

The lsusb command doesn't work at all - and it freezes the terminal
window. I did a tail -f /var/log/messages and no messages appear
while the lsusb command is invoked and freezes.
I'm running an original Intel 945 motherboard with a P4 EMT64 3.1Ghz cpu
and 3GB RAM.
