Driver version 169.12 in Hardy Universe causes stripes and other artifacts when compressed textures are used. Most evident in UT2004. I'm using a 7300GT but it's not a card-specific problem. New beta drivers reportedly resolve the issue. Following Ubuntu procedure (IIRC) this is a backport request.
