I have the same problem on a brand new Thinkpad T61p, using an Atheros chipset
wifi card, on a clean install of 8.04.
Same machine connects fine on XP, and my other toshiba laptop which runs Gutsy
works great.
When I try to select my home network from network manager, it asks for wpa key,
and the icon then starts to spin until times out. Syslog messages seem all fine
until the end where it just times out.

lshw shows the card to be AR5212 802.11abg NIC
Atheros Communications Inc.

I'm now considering a downgrade to gutsy as everything works fine there.
