the gnome-panel places menu also lists the CF256 removable device which
is a Compact Flash 256MB (surprise, surprise) either in the CF slot on
my Thinkpad or in a USB card reader (depending on circumstances).  I've
seen this with my Digicam as well and all kinds of other removable
devices, including sshfs mounts, etc.  I don't think the type of media
has much relevance here.  I am not surprised it is listed in "Places"
since all accessible drives are listed there AFAIK.

gvfs-bin package was up until now not installed.  I attach the requested
output.
