Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I'm reporting this because it may flag a problem in updates over the
last few days..

I'm running 8.04 and have been since late alpha. My set up has been rock
solid since 8.04 release. In the last few (2 or 3 I think, maybe 4)
days, my x server has suddenly started either losing the connection, or
crashing: I'll be working happily, when suddenly I see a black screen. I
can still switch with Alt+Ctrl+F1 and login. I still have xorg and gdm
processes. Trying to restart gdm leads to a hang (this may be the result
of a different problem).

Hardware - Intel Core2 + ATI Radeon 3850. I'm using the restricted
binary drivers.

There doesn't seem to be any pattern. It's happened while I've been
using totem, Mozilla, and Eclipse.

Always, possible, but it's unlikely to be hardware: nothing has changed.

** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
