Rebooted, esc to get grub menu, e to edit, added all_generic_ide=1 after quiet, DVD did not work, hdparm -i reports udma4.
Bios detects as udma2. Booting with irqpoll, DVD did not work Booting with with 2.6.24-12 kernel and DVD did work but screen resolution was "low". Tried remedy offered and now screen resolution is max 1024x768 in both older and newer kernel boots.
