The 173-series drivers are now available from Nvidia at http://www.nvidia.com/object/linux_display_ia32_173.14.05.html
This driver works with the -rt kernel (as reported earlier, while the driver was in beta) They should be packaged for 8.04 TO RESOLVE THIS BUG!
