don;t know what exactly you mean, but seems to work for me
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~° man vi | grep -- "-n "
-n No swap file will be used. Recovery after a crash will be
":w!". The -R option also implies the -n option (see
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~° aptitude show vim
