Public bug reported:

With the version of Ubuntu 8.0.4 there is a bug that don't exist with the 
version of Ubuntu 7.10. 
My Notebook PC is a HP Pavilion zv5000 with AMD Athlon XP Processor 3000+ 1600 
MHz having 768MB RAM and having a card nVidia GeForce4 440 64M, works fine with 
the previous version (7.10) of Ubuntu. There was only the problem that it do 
not support the 1280x1024 screen resolution. But it work.

I've installed the new version (8.0.4) over the 7.10 (formatting previous 
system) without problems. 
But, the PC do not work, the system stop at boot of Ubuntu on PC.

I've tried to install Ubuntu also with ACPI = off and/or noapic (before 
installation with F6). 
No change. 

The last message of Ubuntu when start in verbose mode (Boot Recovery
Mode) is :

[ 44.065127] clocksource tsc unstable (data = 4687155959 ns)

Other Informations: 
1) have the same problem with Kubuntu 8.0.4
2) the Live CD have the same problem
