That software is obviously not created with the user's interests as
the top priority, or it would crafted to be more respectful of the
available resources and also more up-front about what it's doing. I
have a feeling the purpose is to gather meta-data on your files and
then ask you if it's ok to share it with some data-mining operation.
Maybe I'm just cynical, but I expect that software will ask at some
point to share some de-personalized data like crash-reporting software
does. I'm guessing it's for a company, not for individual users. What
do you think?
