it's a wish, not a bug, i would say.
is it possible to make a kde-integration package for firefox like there is
mozilla-firefox-gnome-support; let's name it "mozilla-firefox-kde-support"
which adds the file
/usr/share/firefox/defaults/pref/desktop-integration.js:
pref("network.protocol-handler.app.mailto","kmailservice");
This is the Kubuntu (or at least KDE) version - I don't know how this is
done in Gnome, but I think it's done a similar way. Maybe contact the
package maintainers from mozilla-firefox-gnome-support...
