I've installed Hardy. Here's some notes I kept while and attempting to recreate the freeze.
* Installed Hardy (8.04) from the live CD. Wireless switched on from the start - remains on. * Installed ATI accelerated graphics driver when offered the opportunity by Hardware Drivers. Did not install other updates. * Restarted computer as requested by install. fglrx driver now in use * Started terminal and `tail -f -n10 /var/log/messages` * Disabled screen saver and screen-off power manager - need to be able to see screen when machine locks up * Waited 2 hours. Touched the trackpad occasionally - no problems. * Plugged in the Wacom tablet. Messages showed up in /var/log/messages about the event - nothing suspicious. * Touched the trackpad occasionally to see if the machine was still alive. * 56 minutes later, the system is locked up. No response ctrl-alt-del. No response to ctrl-alt-backspace. * Powered off by holding the power button. * Removed the Wacom table connection. * Powered on the machine. The Xorg.0.log.old file is attached. I did a diff on Xorg.0.log and Xorg.0.log.old. There were only a few differences. There was no mention of a Wacom tablet. ** Attachment added: "Xorg.0.log.old" http://launchpadlibrarian.net/15017195/Xorg.0.log.old -- Wacom tablet doesn't work in Gutsy, freezes OS in Hardy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/230541 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
