After some testing I have to say that the problem persits. The only way the get a reliable drive is to remove ehic_hcd.
What really bothers me is that the original bug report (https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/hardy/+source/linux- source-2.6.20/+bug/88746/) is taged "Won't Fix"!
