Public bug reported:

I have been trying to get the Echo Indigo IO sound card to start up
again after suspend. I find that /etc/init.d/alsa-utils stop doesn't
stop it, though that seems to work on my internal sound. I find that
/etc/init.d/alsasound stop does indeed stop it, but
/etc/init.d/alsasound start will not restart it afterwards. In fact, it
won't start my internal card either anymore, and the only way I have
been able to figure out how to get it going again is to reboot. The
sound behaves the same way when I suspend with the Indigo IO inserted as
it does when I just use alsasound stop and start or just alsasound
restart. I loose all sound until I reboot.

So I am filing this bug against /etc/init.d/alsasound. It seems that
should work for restarting the sound, but perhaps it has been sidelined
in favor of some other mechanism in Hardy. I'd appreciate any tips that
might help me understand this better. If I find a solution, I'll post
it here.
