Adding all_generic_ide to the grab boot paragraph/phrase appears to have fixed the problem: several boot-ups from power-on and from panel/runninggreenmanexitsign/restart have proceeded without the hang. I have not observed any hangs since making the change.
However, I have NO idea how this change affects disk performance. Can someone perhaps leave a note on that topic? Thanks.
