Public bug reported:

Hello,

I defined a new startup program as specified in the doc ("In GNOME, to get the
tray icon to automatically appear at boot, go to System > Preferences >
Sessions. In the "Startup Programs" tab, click the "New" button. Give it a name
("Wicd" works fine). For the command, enter "/opt/wicd/tray.py"").
But no Wicd icon is displayed in the panels.

Launching tray.py in a console only reports a bunch of numbers.

Wicd : 1.4.2-1 (last package in the wicd repo at this time)
Ubuntu Hardy

Every things else is working fine, WPA and such. Good job !

Thanks for your help,

Tom
