Me too.

I am using Intrepid and update-manager is so slow that I've completely
given up on it.  Compared to apt-get from the command-line, I'd have to
say that update-manager is 10x slower if not more.  It took over an hour
to download 14 "normal sized" packages.  Although I can't get you exact
details on what I was downloading and the speeds (right now), I can
guarantee that it's awfully slow.  This is also seen by my co-workers,
and I should note that we are all behind an http proxy server (again,
though, apt-get is fast).

If there are any tests I can run to compare the speeds, like downloading
dummy packages, I'd be happy to oblige.
