for curiosity's sake, what was the difference in the way it was rebuilt, and would it be an undesirable sacrifice in performance for the majority of i686 users? I say this because if it is, it may not be worth it, as i found ubuntu on this via c3 system too slow for meaningful use anyway. And I'd switched to pyroom instead of jdarkroom even on a fast box.
Having said that, JDarkRoom on openjdk on this box is surprisingly usable.
