Well, this is a major usability/discoverability issue, and I don't think
it should be ignored.  How was I supposed to know beforehand that I
needed to go into the advanced options in installer step 7?

My point is that this should be automatic (eliminate the need for user
interation and potential screw ups).  If the bootloader exists, leave it
alone, but update the menu.lst with an ubuntu entry, otherwise install
the bootloader.
