I write here because I encountered a bug that is very similar, or even identical...
I can confirm the same behaviour with 2.6.24-19-386 (hardy-proposed) on a Core2Duo processor, and the curious thing is the output of uname -a: on this kernel: Linux kubuntu 2.6.24-19-386 #1 Wed Jun 4 15:54:02 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux where uname -a on 2.6.24-19-generic or 2.6.24-19-rt reports: Linux kubuntu 2.6.24-19-generic #1 SMP Wed Jun 4 16:35:01 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux Like 386 kernel has no SMP support... I think it is not possible to install a 686 kernel anymore: in Synaptic the related package (linux-image-686) has this description "Upgrade dummy package. Can be removed" and there are no 686 kernels in Hardy repos. -- dapper kernel fails to do smp on pentium-d viiv https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/41746 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list [email protected] https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
